Local multipoint distribution
service (LMDS) is the most sought-after broadband wireless
technology. It is estimated that approximately US $20
billion will be spent over the next four years on infrastructure
in support of this market segment with key focus in the
United States and selected international locations. LMDS
along with MMDS is being viewed as as a key enabling technology
for access to many mid-sized and small companies as well
as Small Office/Home Office and consumer customers requiring
high-speed wireless connectivity. Cisco and Motorola are
working with these operators to deliver high-speed Internet-based
data, voice, and video services over the LMDS and MMDS
radio spectrums. |
